Fruit Cake Recipe
Did anyone see Rachel Allen at 11.30 on 23rd December 06 as I am trying to get the Fruit Cake recipe?
I know it had some brand of stout in it but can’t remember the name and I can’t get the recipe without it. Anyone able to help. THANKS
I bought my wife her recipe book for Christmas.
The recipe is PORTER CAKE
1lb plain flour
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
8 oz butter
8 oz light brown sugar
1 lb mixed dried fruit
3 oz candied peel
2 eggs
1 x 33ml bottle of porter or stout (Guinness, Murphy’s, Beamish.)
Preheat oven to 180c
line sides of 8″ backing tin with greaseproof paper about 2.1/2″ high.
Mix dry ingredients, rub in butter.
Whisk eggs with stout & add to mix & bled well.
Empty into tin & bake for about two hours. Cover with foil after 1 hour to prevent burning
